Close to the shop, which makes the careful version easy

Riverbank is one of the nearest towns we serve, just northeast of Modesto. That matters more than people think. A short drive means the move is about the piano and the house, not about the trip, and it means a Riverbank job is an easy one for us to plan well.

Most of the calls are simple on the face of it: a piano going to a family member across town, or out of a house that is being sold. The work is in the doorway and the steps.

Our own truck, our own crew, our own shop in Modesto.

The old town and the newer neighborhoods

The older blocks around the historic downtown have modest single-story homes, many on raised foundations, with a few porch steps, narrow original doorways and tight turns from a front room into a hallway. An upright through one of those doorways is a matter of inches and padding.

The newer neighborhoods on the north and east sides are easier at the curb and wider inside, but more of them are two story. A piano going up to a loft means a staircase, a turn at the top or a landing, and measurements we want before the day.

Send a photo of the piano and of the front steps or stairs through the contact form or chat. For a Riverbank move that is usually all we need for a firm price.

Why it is not a two-person furniture job

An upright piano carries most of its weight in the cast-iron plate inside, and it is top-heavy. On a porch step or a stair turn, a piano that tips does not stop. That is why we use proper piano dollies, straps, padding and an experienced crew, and why a grand is moved on its side on a skid board with the legs and pedals taken off.

Storage and the cabinet

If the piano needs a place to wait, it can be wrapped and stored on raised supports at our Modesto shop, a short drive away. If the cabinet is worn, refinishing happens at the same shop.

After any move, let the piano settle into its new room for a few weeks before booking a tuning, and keep it away from heating vents and sunny windows.

What it costs to come out to Riverbank, straight

Being close to the shop does not mean we quote a flat rate. The piano, the steps and the stairs still decide the job.

A piano does not come to the shop for a look, so for a move we price from the details: the piano type, both addresses, the stairs and the access. A photo of the piano and one of the path out of the house usually covers it, and the price is firm before anything is scheduled.

If Bob needs to see the access in person first, there is a charge for the visit, quoted when you call. For most Riverbank homes, photos do the job.
