Free estimate when you bring the piece to 301 Maze Blvd; on-site visits have a charge, quoted by phone.
The house is new. The dresser is not
A lot of Manteca families moved here from somewhere else, and they brought a few pieces with them that matter more than the rest: a grandmother's dresser, a cedar chest, the dining table that has hosted every holiday for decades. In a brand-new house with a fresh floor, those pieces suddenly look tired.
The question we get is whether it is worth fixing, or whether it is time to buy something that matches the house. Sometimes the honest answer is replace. Often it is not, because the old piece is built better than anything you would buy to take its place.

What Manteca sends us
Because so much of the town is newer housing, the furniture we see from Manteca is mostly family furniture rather than pieces that came with the house: solid wood dressers and chests of drawers, dining sets, cedar chests, and the occasional antique that has followed a family through three or four moves.
Moves are hard on furniture. Drawers get loaded and dragged, legs get knocked loose, tops get scratched in the truck. Add a garage that has sat at summer temperatures for a few years and you get dry, loose joints and finishes that have checked and dulled. That is repair and refinishing work, and it is very often worth doing.
Not sure whether your piece is worth it? Send us a photo or two, a wide shot and a close-up of the worst spot. The contact form and chat both take photos, and we will tell you plainly.
Worth saving, or not
Solid wood with sound joinery is nearly always worth restoring. A good veneered piece usually is too, as long as the substrate underneath is sound. Particleboard with a printed surface usually is not, and we will say so rather than take the job.
Restoring does not have to mean erasing character. We can strip and refinish fully, or clean up, repair and keep the patina, depending on what the piece is and what you want to keep about it.
Getting it from Manteca to our bench
Manteca is a planned trip north on Highway 99 from our shop. Plenty of Manteca customers bring a smaller piece down themselves, which is also how you get the estimate free. For something big, a full dining set or a tall case piece, we run our own truck and can talk through pickup and delivery when you call.
What it costs to come out to Manteca, straight
Restoration is priced per piece, because a loose chair and a water-damaged buffet are not the same job. We would rather see the piece than guess.
Bring it to the shop at 301 Maze Blvd and the estimate is free. If you would rather Bob drive up to Manteca to look at it in person, there is a charge for the visit, and he will tell you what it is when you call. A couple of good photos often settle it without either.
