Not far, but the access still decides the day
Ripon sits right on our northern route, a short run up 99 from the shop. The drive is the easy part. What makes a Ripon move straightforward or tricky is the house: a small-town front porch, a staircase in a newer two-story, or an orchard property with a long drive.
Most of our Ripon calls are families moving within town, or a piano heading out of a parent's house. Either way, we want to know the access before we come.
Our own truck, our own crew, our own shop in Modesto.
Three kinds of Ripon house
The older homes near the center of town are mostly single story, with front steps and porches and doorways narrower than modern ones. Careful threshold work, few stairs.
The newer subdivisions around town are easy at the curb and often two story inside. A piano going to a loft or upstairs room means measuring the landing and the turn.
Out among the orchards, country properties can mean gravel drives, gates, and limited room to turn a truck. Tell us about those on the phone and we will plan for them.
Send a photo of the piano and of the path in, steps, stairs or drive, through the contact form or chat. That is the fastest way to a firm price.
Doing it properly
An upright is top-heavy, with most of its weight in the cast-iron plate. A grand travels on its side on a padded skid board with the legs and pedals removed. Both need proper piano dollies, straps, padding and an experienced crew, not a furniture dolly and a few friends.
Same run as Manteca and Salida
Because Ripon sits between Modesto and Manteca, it pairs naturally with Salida, Escalon and Manteca stops. If the piano needs to wait between houses, we can wrap it and store it on raised supports at our Modesto shop.
After the move, let it settle for a few weeks before booking a tuning.
What it costs to come out to Ripon, straight
We price a Ripon move from the piano, both addresses and the access at each end. No flat rate, because a porch in town and a loft in a new build are different jobs.
A piano does not come to the shop for a look, so for a move we price from the details: the piano type, both addresses, the stairs and the access. A photo of the piano and one of the path out of the house usually covers it, and the price is firm before anything is scheduled.
If the access is unusual enough that Bob should see it in person, there is a charge for the visit, quoted when you call.
